Raw Fish

23 January, 2010 by James Lawther Leave a Comment

Have you ever visited Yo Suhi?  If you haven’t have a look at the video.

The restaurant is a marvel in terms of giving customers what they want without any fuss.  You take the food that you want off the conveyor belt.  The chefs just keep it topped up.  If you want service there is a button to press that sets off a light.  A waiter comes to serve you.

Each table has a tap for both sparkling and still water; there is also a bin of cold drinks so that you can just help yourself.  At the end of your visit they count your plates and give you the bill.

There is no mess or fuss, everything is made as easy for the customer as possible.

Contrast this with the last time you spent 20 minutes trying to catch a waiter’s eye.

Which type of service do you offer?  What would you have to do to make it as slick as Yo Sushi?

It’s just a pity I don’t like raw fish.

James Lawther is a middle-aged, middle manager.

To reach this highly elevated position he has worked in numerous industries, from supermarket retailing to tax collecting.  He has had several operational roles, including running the night shift in a frozen pea packing factory and carrying out operational research for a credit card company.

As you can see from his C.V. he has either a wealth of experience or is incapable of holding down a job.  If the latter is true this post isn’t worth a minute of your attention.

Unfortunately, the only way to find out is to read it and decide for yourself.
