One Every Three Seconds

12 June, 2010 by James Lawther Leave a Comment

Apple has sold a million iPads in the first 28 days.  That is one iPad every 3 seconds.

That is a lot of iPads, where are they all coming from?

According to the Independent they are being made by Foxconn in Shenzen China:

– The factory employs 420,000 workers
– They each work 60 hour weeks
– They earn £100 to £150 a month

This all goes to prove the point:
If you have something that is unique (an iPad) you will make money
If you have something that is common (your labour) you won’t

James Lawther is a middle-aged, middle manager.

To reach this highly elevated position he has worked in numerous industries, from supermarket retailing to tax collecting.  He has had several operational roles, including running the night shift in a frozen pea packing factory and carrying out operational research for a credit card company.

As you can see from his C.V. he has either a wealth of experience or is incapable of holding down a job.  If the latter is true this post isn’t worth a minute of your attention.

Unfortunately, the only way to find out is to read it and decide for yourself.
